We had a super half-term in Year 5 with our topic on Ancient Greece. The highlight for many of the children was making clay coil pots. The children used their SECRET skills in getting involved, trying something new and making connections. They have also written warning tales in English based on the tale of Icarus who flew too high, too high. A dramatic story ending which completely engrossed the class!
We were also fortunate to have a visit from music specialist Mr Montgomery-Smith. He came for an hour for three weeks. A range of music skills and understanding were developed which resulted in creating a whole class piece of music titled the storm. Rather fitting for the current weather! The children used a mixture of both pitched and unpitched musical instruments. We hope he can come again!
Spring 2020 Film and Theatre
This half-term, our topic is Film and Theatre. In English, we will be using the short Disney film of La Luna to develop our writing. We also have an exciting theatre visit to our school from the Squashbox Theatre with a show titled: Curious Creature. Just Year Five will have a puppet making workshop too!
Another exciting half-term to look forward to in the lead up to Easter It’s going to be a short but busy half term!
We had a super half-term in Year 5 with our topic on Space. We loved our visit from Mr Barber and a planetarium. It almost felt like we experienced space! We learnt many new interesting facts. As part of our DT work, we made model of the solar system – they even had electrical circuits inside them! The children used their SECRET skills in getting involved, developing resilience and working to help each other.
