Tamar - Year 4

Year Four

Miss Mabin

with Mrs Boulton, Ms Ferreira and Mrs Spring
Tamar Class kicked off their new topic of the Romans with a Roman Day on Monday 10th January.  Their costumes were amazing and they enjoyed a range of activities including learning when the Roman empire began, made Roman sandals and more!
Christmas!

In Year 4, we like to be creative and have lots of fun! Miss Mabin likes to try something new and will always be thinking of inventive ways to adapt lessons and teach new learning. We love reading, history and completing art projects among other learning, and if we can be outside...even better.

We enjoy getting to grips with our timetables, we play lots of games to enhance our understanding, this involves setting ourselves challenges, beating the clock and using our outdoor environment.

We love being creative and using story maps to learn our class texts, then use our knowledge and imagination to create our own versions. We love reading and sharing stories and have some great class stories to read together as well as a range of books to choose from.

We have some fantastic topics to cover this year such as Rainforest, Roman Invasion and Disaster.  These topics link with our history and geography learning as well as with other subjects such as science, art and design and technology.

Please find further details about the learning for the half term and
suggested homework activities below:
On Monday 1st November, Tamar class visited the Eden Project to explore the Rainforest Biome and take part in a workshop led by Eden staff.  This was a fantastic start to their new Rainforest topic!
Knowledge Organisers
These provide the key knowledge we will be learning in our foundation topics this half term.  It would be useful to look at these with you child and talk about them.  You could have mini quizzes to see what they can remember, draw parts of them or they can create their own version.  This will help the children to ensure they remember the knowledge fully.
